Post-traumatic impacts

This report aims to define and denounce ocular violence as a systematic act of torture carried out by the State in contexts of social protest around the world.

This characterization of ocular violence is grounded in an analysis of different political contexts in which mass ocular injuries have been recorded as a result of the use of force by State agents.

The document gathers the experiences, narratives and perspectives of the survivors, making it possible to identify clear patterns regarding the repercussions that this type of violence has left on their lives, their families and their political participation.

It also incorporates contributions from human rights experts at the national and international levels, in order to understand and bring visibility to the multidimensional consequences of this issue.
