Stories of resistance
In this section you will find the interviews conducted with survivors of eye violence from different countries, which lay bare the consequences of this type of state violence. The family, educational, occupational and social harms left behind by shots fired at the eyes of demonstrators constitute acts of torture.
Through the voices of survivors, we reconstruct their life stories before, during and even after the eye violence. In this way we help to recognize these events as systematic acts of torture that affect not only survivors but society as a whole and the very idea of democracy. These testimonies also add elements for exercises of memory in our societies, making it possible to bring the causes and consequences to light and to advance efforts toward non-repetition.
